Art Is...Basic Perspective Drawing

( 29:24 )

Artist Gerald Brommer introduces linear perspective demonstrating the need to see perspective in order to draw it. He then shows how to make one-point, two-point, and three-point perspective drawings using boxes, landscapes, and buildings as subjects. He also shows why posts look shorter and closer together as they go into the distance and demonstrates the method he uses to place them accurately. In the final demonstration, he shows how to draw cylinders in perspective from below, head-on, and above using a vase containing colored water.

"Gerald Brommer introduces perspective drawing in a competent and concise clarity that we have come to expect from him. He uses a straight edge and pen in close-up views, making it easy for the beginner to understand perspective concepts that can sometimes be perplexing." Arts and Activities
